New Mexico power of attorney forms enable a person to give someone else the authority to handle their financial, medical, or other affairs. The person giving the authority (known as the “principal”) chooses a trusted individual (the “agent”) to act on their behalf. The agent will have the same power as the principal. The principal can choose to make the form “durable,” which means it remains valid even if they become incapacitated.
