Security Deposits

Maximum – Maximum Amount that can be requested from tenant is one month’s rent. An additional pet fee may apply.
Return – Landlords must refund the security deposits to the Tenant(s) within a period of 14 days after the lease agreement comes to an end or the tenant vacates the property, whichever is later.

Landlord Access

Landlords are required to provide notice of at least two days prior to entering a tenant’s unit. This legal requirement serves to ensure the Tenants’ privacy rights are respected and their living spaces are not entered upon without proper notice.

Rent Fees

Payments – The payment of rent in Hawaii is expected to be made promptly and without delay at the designated location and time.

Notice to Quit – In the event that the payment is not made on the due date, the landlord has the right to issue a notice to quit within a period of five days. It is important to note that the notice to quit is a legal document that obliges the tenant to vacate the premises within the given time frame.
