Laws ⚖️

Termination Notices:

Outside NYC: 1 month notice to end a month-to-month lease. [1]
Within NYC: Notice depends on how long the tenant has lived there:

  • Less than 1 year: 30 days
  • 1-2 years: 60 days
  • 2+ years: 90 days [2]

Rent Increases:

If the rent increases by 5% or more, the notice period is the same as the termination periods above. [3]
